- Gate Way II - Home World
- compete solution 1600/1600 pts.
-
-
- Begining:
-
- take trash
- You pull out a random crumpled ball of paper and smooth it out.
- You read:
- Notice of Electronic Funds Transfer
- 8/5/2112
- Type: Debit
- From: Account 0394902
- To: Pacific Data Services
- For: Net Access
- Amount: $267.51
- You snarl, wad the paper back up, and throw it back in the
- trash. You might have $50 million in the bank, but $267.51 for
- PV services is still highway robbery!
-
- sw
- Bedroom
- This is the bedroom of your "bachelor pad" condominium. An old
- fashioned queen size bed occupies the middle of the room. Two
- plain bedside tables sit on either side of the bed. The living
- room is off to the northeast.
- On the bedside table you see a matchbook.
- On the bed you see a news fax.
-
- take all
- matchbook: Taken.
- news fax: Taken.

-
- PART I:
-
- light trash
- You take the last match from the matchbook. It flares into life
- as it comes free of the matchbook. You drop the match into the
- waste paper basket. The refuse around the match catches fire
- for a few moments, producing a cloud of blue smoke. The little
- fire goes out as the smoke drifts lazily around the room,
- eventually reaching a hidden sensor and tripping the
- SmartBuilding fire alarm. A screeching howl fills the
- condominium and a flat computerized voice says, "Attention,
- homeowner! The SmartBuilding system has detected a fire! Please
- evacuate immediately!"
- [Your score has just gone up by 10. NOTE: You can activate and
- deactivate score-change notification using the NOTIFY command.]

- Foyer
- This is the foyer of your condominium. Because this is an
- exclusive development, you have your own elevator entrance. The
- elevator doors are set into the wall to the east, surrounded
- tastefully by reflective glass. The living room of your condo
- is to the northwest, and a hallway leads south.
- A small sign is mounted discretely on the glass next to the
- elevator doors.
-
- s
- Hallway
- This is a hallway decorated in the same style as the elevator
- foyer. A door leading to an outside stairwell is set into a
- glass enclosure that is a twin of the elevator entrance to the
- northwest.
- A sign is posted near the stairwell door.
-
- open door
- You open the stairwell door.
- A tinny voice comes from somewhere in your condominium's
- living room. "Attention, homeowner! The SmartBuilding system
- has detected a fire! Evacuate immediately!"
-
- e
- You bound into the stairwell and scramble up five flights of
- stairs to the building roof. When you swing open the external
- door to the roof, you are greeted by a burly man in a Combined
- Military Force (CMF) uniform. He takes you to a waiting
- aircar...
- [Your score has just gone up by 10.]
- Conference Room
- The laboratory conference room is a utilitarian area outfitted
- with a conference table and twin display screens. The exit is
- to the east. White lab rats run tirelessly around a series of
- cages set into the wall across from the table.
- You see a radio, a dead terrorist and a dead scientist here.
- On the table you see a slip of paper.
- The dead terrorist is wearing a gas mask and a utility belt.
- On the utility belt you see a hand grenade.
-
- take all
- radio: Taken.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- slip of paper: Taken.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- gas mask: You carefully pull the gas mask off of the dead
- terrorist.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- hand grenade: You gingerly remove the hand grenade from the
- dead terrorist's belt. You handle the deadly egg with caution.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass, this is Cheshire Cat. The drones have achieved
- blanket coverage of Wonderland. Cameras aboard the RPVs are
- showing very high casualty rates. We estimate that 75% of the
- Charlie Mikes are down and that 95% of the civvies are down. All
- baseline objectives have been reached."
-
- wear mask
- You put on the gas mask.
- The radio crackles:
- "Cheshire Cat, this is Looking Glass. Good work. Launch the
- second wave when ready."
- "Looking Glass, this is Cheshire Cat. The mobile launchers are
- fueling up the drones right now."
-
- examine radio
- This is a handheld digital radio, obviously military in origin.
- The compact device fits into the palm of your hand. It has a
- gray dial with three settings (labeled "0", "1", and "2") and a
- square gray button. The dial is currently set to 1.
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass, this is Mad Hatter. Lab buildings in Wonderland
- Sector Two are secure. All civvies are dead."
- "Mad Hatter, this is Looking Glass. Good work. Sit tight."
- You hear an almost inaudible whimper, followed by a pitiful
- squeak. You look over at the source of the noises and recoil in
- horror. The lab rats in the cages set into the wall are in
- convulsions, their mouths foaming as colorless and odorless
- toxic gas filters into the room and destroys their nervous and
- respiratory systems.
-
- turn dial to 2
- You turn the gray dial on the radio to 2 ("FREQ TWO"). There is
- a pop of static.
- The radio crackles:
- "Base, all units. Do not use command push for inter-unit
- communications. This is an emergency situation. This frequency
- is reserved for the Section Leaders. You may monitor, but don't
- talk!"
-
- read paper
- On the slip of paper you see the following notes and scribbles:
- Authentication: AERIE
- The radio crackles:
- "Markham, Base. Gimme a sitrep right now!"
-

- Engineering Lab
- This is an engineering lab dedicated to finding uses for the
- mysterious Heechee artifacts brought back from distant worlds
- by Gateway prospectors. This part of the lab is dominated by a
- large computer-controlled robot arm that is used for handling
- potentially dangerous equipment. Just behind the robot arm to
- the north is a workbench. Beyond the workbench is an exit
- leading north and down. Other exits are to the west, southwest,
- south, and southeast.
- The heavy robot arm is moving spastically in all directions.
- The lab workbench has a silver plaque.
- On the lab workbench you see a tuning fork.
- The radio crackles:
- "Roger, Base. The first signs of trouble were scattered reports
- of RPVs flying into Romeo Delta airspace from all points. The
- RPVs are now over Romeo Delta base. They are dispersing some
- kind of airborne nerve agent. We have reports of heavy
- casualties from all over the base-"
-
- pull cable
- You hunker down on the floor, crawl forward far enough to grab
- the cable, and examine the black plastic carefully. After a
- moment of deliberation (while the arm slashes through the air
- overhead) you yank on the cable. The connector comes free of
- the socket, and the robot arm immediately shuts down.
- [Your score has just gone up by 10.]
- The radio crackles:
- "...Azul Cinco, Azul Cinco, donde esta Madeira? No tengo ..."
- "Hey! Who the hell is that? This is a command frequency! Clear
- the net!"
-
- take fork
- You take the tuning fork from the lab workbench.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- The radio crackles:
- "All units, this is Base. We suspect that this attack is being
- mounted by the paramilitary arm of the Phoenix Sect. These guys
- are very, very well organized. We've kinda been expecting
- them..."
-
- n
- You walk down a long ramp that leads underground.
-
- Tram Station
- This is a familiar sight: a station platform for a maglev
- people-mover. These highly efficient tram vehicles ride on a
- magnetic repeller field, "levitating" over a guideway as they
- travel at high speeds (hence the name "maglev"). They are
- commonly used for ferrying people around airports, downtown
- areas, or large installations like Romeo Delta Two. Directly in
- front of you to the north is the maglev guideway for the tram.
- A red sign with an arrow pointing up identifies this station as
- RESEARCH CENTER. The exit to the engineering lab is to the
- south.
- The radio crackles:
- "Markham to Base. Expecting them? Why the f___ didn't you clue
- the rest of us in?"
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Hey! Watch it, Kelso! This was classified Alpha One!"
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "We've got thousands of dead soldiers and civilians. We weren't
- prepared to handle a damn Sect assault."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Can it, Kelso! It'll keep till later!"
- A computerized voice booms from overhead speakers and echoes
- throughout the station. "Attention, please. The tram will
- arrive at the station in one minute. Please stand back from the
- guideway. Thank you."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Base, this is Gate Eleven. There are several unmanned drone
- aircraft visible to the southeast, south, and southwest. They
- are flying about thirty meters up, jinking like crazy. They seem
- to be dropping something... Ohmygod, it's gas, Jack! Jack, get
- the unit into NBC suits Right NOW!"
- The tram pulls into the station and stops in front of you. A
- door in the side of the tram opens with a soft hiss.
-
- in
- You enter the tram.
-
- Tram Interior
- The interior of the tram is pretty much what you had expected.
- A row of metal seats runs down each side of the vehicle.
- Windows provide the illusion of exterior visibility, but in
- reality the heavy tinted glass does not let much light in or
- out. A monitor at the front of the tram displays the current
- location and next stop. The scene would be perfectly innocuous
- if it weren't for the macabre presence of a corpse slumped in a
- forward seat. The dead passenger must have been caught by the
- chemical attack on the base.
- You see a dead passenger here.
- The radio crackles:
- "...can't you guys get off your asses and do SOMETHING! I've
- got guys down here. Repeat, I have casualties. What the hell is
- going on? This is California for God's sake..."
- You hear an obnoxious two-tone warning bell from a speaker
- over the tram door.
-
- look at screen
- A monitor on a stand near the front of the tram is displaying
- this text:
- CURRENT LOCATION: RESEARCH CENTER
- NEXT STOP: MISSION CONTROL
- The radio crackles:
- "...I can't make heads or tails out of the damn command
- traffic. This is a damn zoo.."
- "...we think that the nerve agent will take out most of the
- civilian population of Romeo Delta Two. There are three groups
- of lab buildings near the launch complex that have positive
- pressure buildings, but those are the only..."
- A harsh electronic voice from speakers inside the tram says,
- "Stop! Do Not Enter! The Doors Are Closing Now!" Moments later,
- the tram door slides shut and the vehicle jerks forward. It
- accelerates smoothly as it pulls away from the station.
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "...any sign of a ground or air assault other than the RPVs?"
- The tram hurtles along the track.
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Base, Markham. There are unconfirmed reports on the Red
- subfreqs of tiltrotor troop transports following the RPVs..."
- The tram begins decelerating.
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Base, this is Gate Three. We have about ten soldiers in NBC
- gear. We have fifty-two dead, all victims of the nerve agent
- dispersed by the RPVs..."
- The tram loses speed as it pulls into the next station. The
- door in the side opens with a soft hiss as soon as it comes to
- a stop.
-
- s
- You exit the tram.
-
- Tram Station
- This is one of the three tram stations located on the Romeo
- Delta base. Directly in front of you to the north is the maglev
- guideway for the tram. A red sign with an arrow pointing up
- identifies this station as MISSION CONTROL. The exit to Mission
- Control is south.
- The radio crackles:
- "...repeat, under attack by remotely piloted vehicles. The
- aircraft resemble small helicopters..."
- You hear an obnoxious two-tone warning bell from a speaker
- over the tram door.
-
- s
- Mission Control
- This is a large room filled with complicated consoles,
- screens, and instruments of every description. Although this
- looks like the nerve center of launch and space operations, it
- is currently eerily quiet. Lights flash and screens blink, but
- there isn't anybody left alive to pay any attention. The room
- is filled with bodies. Two of the dead bodies are nearby. One
- is wearing the uniform of a mission specialist and the other is
- dressed as a technician. They are slumped in their chairs.
- Immediately in front of you is a console with a keyboard and a
- screen.
- You see a dead specialist and a dead technician here.
- The radio crackles:
- "Markham, Lucas, Salinas, this is Base. Any sign of ground or
- air units behind the RPVs?"
-
- search specialist
- A white plastic badge is clipped to the specialist's shirt.
- The radio crackles:
- "Markham, this is Station Five. I have two RPV rotorcraft
- overhead. They are dispersing some kind of gas..."
-
- take badge
- You take the white badge from the dead specialist.
- The radio crackles:
- "...bodies all over the place. People are dropping like
- flies..."
-
- read badge
- On the badge is a picture of the dead specialist and the
- following text:
- GATEWAY ENTERPRISES
- MISSION SPECIALIST
- Name: Adeiro Kassan
- Clearance: ALPHA ONE
- On the back of the badge in small letters is the following
- text:
- SPEC CODE A552
- A black stripe runs across the bottom of the badge.
- [Your score has just gone up by 5.]
- The radio crackles:
- "...JesusMary, they're dropping a cloud of something, it's
- comingthisway.."
-
- look at console
- You look around at the bewildering variety of screens,
- consoles, and controls. Finally you select the console in front
- of you, lean in towards the screen, and put your fingers on the
- corresponding keyboard. The system comes to life...
- Type in: 'A552'

- [Your score has just gone up by 25.]
- The radio crackles:
- "Don't panic! Get into NBC gear and clear this push, soldier!"
- A gentle female voice speaks over the installation PA system:
- "This is Aquila Launch Control. Attention, all Romeo Delta
- personnel. An automatic launch procedure has been initiated for
- the Aquila launch vehicle on Pad Tango Three. This installation
- is now in a launch mode. Condition Charlie is now in effect
- throughout all installation facilities. T minus 29 minutes and
- counting."
-
- n
- Tram Station
- The radio crackles:
- "Base, Lucas. No reports of ground forces. We have a thin
- defensive cordon set up five klicks south of the admin
- buildings. We really weren't prepared for anything like this..."
-
-
- turn dial to 1
- You turn the gray dial on the radio to 1 ("FREQ ONE"). There is
- a pop of static.
- The radio crackles:
- "This is Looking Glass. Somebody - we think a Charlie Mike or a
- civvie - logged into the main computers inside Mission Control
- and initiated a computer-controlled automatic launch sequence.
- If the countdown proceeds as it's supposed to, Alice will lift
- off automatically in thirty minutes or so. This is actually what
- we intended to do after the tech team arrived."
- A gentle female voice speaks over the installation PA system:
- "This is Aquila Launch Control. The on-board computers have
- passed a Level Three systems check. The probeship navigation,
- engineering, life support, and pulsedrive propulsion systems are
- operational. Aquila Launch Control will now commence fueling of
- the twin heavy lift rocket boosters. T minus 27 minutes and
- counting."

- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Mad Hatter to Looking Glass. This could ruin our whole day."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:

- Control or Alice before Alice actually lifts off. Use the tram
- system - it's the only way you're going to make it in time!"
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Mad Hatter here. Ready to move out."
- A gentle female voice speaks over the installation PA system:
- "This is Aquila Launch Control. Liquid hydrogen and liquid
- oxygen are now being transferred aboard probeship booster one by
- the automatic fueling system. T minus 24 minutes and
- counting."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "This is March Hare. My men are ready to go."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass here. The tram station in your sector is under
- the lab held by Mock Turtle. Mock Turtle reported his objective
- as secure. Get over there right now!"
- The familiar female voice speaks in a more urgent tone: "This
- is Aquila Launch Control. The Aquila launch countdown has been
- halted at T minus 22 minutes. Aquila Launch Control detected a
- fault in the automatic fuel transfer mechanism during the
- transfer of liquid oxygen to booster two. The fuel transfer
- system has been taken off-line. The countdown has been placed
- on hold until the liquid oxygen level in booster two reaches
- nominal levels. The Aquila countdown is holding at T minus 22
- minutes."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "March Hare here. I'm worried about the time factor. The tram
- station is under Lab Building One. It's quite a hop over
- there..."
- A computerized voice booms from overhead speakers and echoes
- throughout the station. "Attention, please. The tram will
- arrive at the station in one minute. Please stand back from the
- guideway. Thank you."
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "This is Looking Glass. We've got them! Our ELINT shows the
- countdown has halted at 22 minutes. Alice is low on LOX. It'll
- take'em at least ten minutes to fuel up. We've got plenty of
- time."
- The tram pulls into the station and stops in front of you. A
- door in the side of the tram opens with a soft hiss.
-
- in
- You enter the tram.
-
- Tram Interior
- You see a dead passenger here.
- The radio crackles:
- "Mad Hatter to Looking Glass. I'm on my way. ETA tram station
- fifteen minutes give or take a couple minutes. ETA Alice twenty
- minutes give or take a few."
- You hear an obnoxious two-tone warning bell from a speaker
- over the tram door.
-
- look at screen
- A monitor on a stand near the front of the tram is displaying
- this text:
- CURRENT LOCATION: MISSION CONTROL
- NEXT STOP: LAUNCH PAD
- The radio crackles:
- "March Hare to Looking Glass. I'm moving out now. I'm headed
- for the tram station. I can't call my ETA with any degree of
- certainty. Say between fifteen and thirty minutes."
- A harsh electronic voice from speakers inside the tram says,
- "Stop! Do Not Enter! The Doors Are Closing Now!" Moments later,
- the tram door slides shut and the vehicle jerks forward. It
- accelerates smoothly as it pulls away from the station.
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "Mad Hatter to March Hare. Have you heard from Mock Turtle?"
- The familiar female voice intones: "This is Aquila Launch
- Control. The Aquila launch countdown is holding at T minus 22
- minutes. The liquid oxygen levels in booster two remain below
- operational limits."
- The tram hurtles along the track.
-
- wait
- Time passes...
- The radio crackles:
- "March Hare to Mad Hatter. Negative on Mock Turtle."
- The tram begins decelerating.
-
- remove pin
- You close your eyes and pull on the grenade pin. There is a
- great deal more resistance than you expected, and you give it a
- firm yank. The pin gives way suddenly, flying out of your hand
- and landing out of sight with a metallic "plink". You now have
- four minutes before the grenade detonates with the force
- equivalent to half a ton of TNT.
- The radio crackles:
- "What the hell happened to him? Hello, Mock Turtle?"
- The tram loses speed as it pulls into the next station. The
- door in the side opens with a soft hiss as soon as it comes to
- a stop.
-
- drop grenade
- You drop the hand grenade.
- The radio crackles:
- "This is March Hare. We're going to have to assume that the
- Charlie Mike or civvie that kicked off the auto-launch got Mock
- Turtle. That means that this radio frequency is compromised."
- You hear an obnoxious two-tone warning bell from a speaker
- over the tram door.
- You have three minutes until the grenade goes off.
-
- s
- You exit the tram.
-
- Tram Station
- This is one of the three tram stations located on the Romeo
- Delta base. Directly in front of you to the north is the maglev
- guideway for the tram. A red sign with an arrow pointing up
- identifies this station as LAUNCH PAD. The exit to the launch
- pad is south.
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass here. All units, listen up. Those with multiple
- frequency radios, go to frequency Hotel on my mark. Mad Hatter
- and March Hare, you have crippled field radios. You will
- maintain radio silence until you have reached Alice. I will give
- you instructions on how to kill the auto-launch process at that
- point. Looking Glass out. Mark!"
- The familiar female voice intones: "This is Aquila Launch
- Control. The Aquila launch countdown is holding at T minus 22
- minutes. The liquid oxygen levels in booster two remain below
- operational limits."
- A harsh electronic voice from speakers inside the tram says,
- "Stop! Do Not Enter! The Doors Are Closing Now!" Moments later,
- the tram door slides shut and the vehicle moves away.
- You have two minutes until the grenade goes off.
-
- s
- You navigate through a Brobdignagian forest of gigantic gantry
- structures until you locate the correct launch pad. You find it
- by the sign attached to a huge structural girder: "PAD T3". You
- look up - and up and up. The gantry and the launch vehicle
- tower above you, a collection of awkward, spidery girders
- rising alongside a sleek spacecraft. You take a moment to
- admire the Aquila probeship, a graceful delta-winged bird
- sitting atop two powerful boosters. After a moment of
- contemplation, you enter a door at the base of the gantry
- structure and find yourself in a mechanical room underneath the
- main engines of the Aquila launch vehicle.
-
- Mechanical Room
- This is a mechanical room used for troubleshooting and backup
- manual control of the probeship launch systems. The room is
- dominated by the components of the fuel transfer system, which
- include three heavy pipes (color coded red, yellow, and blue)
- and a complex console used for fault isolation and problem
- resolution. An elevator is set into the wall to the west. The
- elevator doors are open. Above the elevator doors is an arrow
- pointing up and the stenciled words: "TO SHIP".
- You see a console, a yellow pipe, a red pipe and a blue pipe
- here.
- The radio crackles:
- "Hey, Charlie Mike? or are you a civvie? You listening on our
- radio? If you are, listen closely: you're a dead man. We'll be
- seein' ya real soon now."
- You have one minute until the grenade goes off.
-
- w
- You enter the elevator. It senses your presence and the doors
- hiss shut, sealing off the outside world for the moment. A few
- seconds later the elevator begins moving up. Your heart sinks
- into your stomach and your ears pop as the elevator
- accelerates. The ride lasts only for a few moments. Then the
- elevator stops and the doors open. You step out onto the gantry
- platform.
-
- Gantry Platform
- You are standing on a platform that is 250 meters above the
- ground. Directly in front of you to the south is the smooth
- side of the probeship. On either side of the probeship you can
- see the Romeo Delta Two installation spread out to the horizon.
- A thin ribbon of concrete catches your eye: it is the tram
- guideway, far below you to the southwest.
- You hear a distant rumble as the grenade detonates far below.
- [Your score has just gone up by 15.]
-
- w
- Mechanical Room
- You see a console, a yellow pipe, a red pipe and a blue pipe
- here.
-
- look at screen
- You look at the screen on the fuel system console...
- Select: 'FUELING STATUS'
- Select: 'Diagnostic'
- Select: 'Recommended Action'
- Select: 'Exit'
- The familiar female voice intones: "This is Aquila Launch
- Control. The Aquila launch countdown is holding at T minus 22
- minutes. The liquid oxygen levels in booster two remain below
- operational limits."
-
- take blue sensor
- You detach the blue fuel flow sensor unit from the blue pipe.
-
- take yellow sensor
- You take the yellow fuel flow sensor.
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass to March Hare. Confirm tram system unusable."
-
- attach yellow sensor to blue pipe
- You attach the yellow fuel flow sensor to the blue pipe.
- [Your score has just gone up by 10.]
- The radio crackles:
- "March Hare to Looking Glass. Yup, the tram is tango uniform.
- It isn't working. It's down. We're hosed."
-
- look at lever
- A lever protrudes from the console. Above the lever are words
- "FUEL SYSTEM". The lever itself has two settings: "ON-LINE" and
- "OFF-LINE". The lever is currently set to the "OFF-LINE"
- position.
- The radio crackles:
- "Queen of Hearts to Looking Glass. We aren't going to get there
- any sooner either. The Charlie Mikes are putting up a hell of a
- fight. The Hedgehogs are behind schedule."
- The familiar female voice intones: "This is Aquila Launch
- Control. The Aquila launch countdown is holding at T minus 22
- minutes. The liquid oxygen levels in booster two remain below
- operational limits."
-
- pull lever
- You pull the lever to the "ON-LINE" position. A few moments
- later you hear the throbbing of the fuel pumps as they draw
- liquid oxygen from huge underground storage tanks and force it
- into the probeship booster. The fueling procedure is completed
- after several seconds.
- [Your score has just gone up by 25.]
- The radio crackles:
- "Mad Hatter here. Yup, the tram is down hard. Without the tram
- we are at least an hour away from Alice on foot."
- The gentle female voice speaks over the installation PA
- system: "This is Aquila Launch Control. The Aquila launch
- countdown has been re-started at T minus 22 minutes. All
- systems are now nominal at T minus 22 minutes and counting."
-
- w
- You set the blue fuel sensor down before leaving the
- Mechanical Room. It is much too heavy to be carrying around.
- You enter the gantry elevator and ride up to the top of the
- gantry tower.
-
- Gantry Platform
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass here. Pull out. This operation has gone to hell.
- Follow the withdrawal plan and pull out."
- A gentle female voice speaks over the installation PA system:
- "This is Aquila Launch Control. Fueling of booster one was
- completed successfully. Fueling for booster two is now underway.
- Liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen are being pumped aboard
- probeship booster two by the automatic fueling system. T minus
- 21 minutes and counting."
-
- in
- You climb inside the probeship.
-
- Ship
- You are in the aft section of the probeship, a spartan metal
- cabin dominated by a cryogenic suspension capsule bolted to the
- far wall. Across from the capsule is the hull door through
- which you entered the ship. Mounted on the wall next to the
- door is a small sign and a red button. Above the cryo-sleep
- capsule is a medikit cabinet. Rungs embedded in the side of the
- ship lead up to the flight deck.
- The radio crackles:
- "The Leader isn't going to be happy!"
-
- close door
- The door slides shut. You hear a brief whine while the air
- inside the probeship is cycled out and replaced by air from the
- internal tanks, followed by a pleasant chime.
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass to all units. The code is Bravo Oscar, I repeat
- the code is Bravo Oscar. We're pulling out. Follow the plan and
- keep it orderly."
-
- n
- The hull door leading to the outside is closed.
- The radio crackles:
- "Looking Glass to Gryphon Leader. Blow Alice off the face of
